Food Safety team lifts 12 samples, challans several erring operators

JAMMU, Nov 3: On the eve of ‘Karva-Chauth’ festival, the Food Safety team of Drug & Food Control Organization, Jammu took out a special drive in Jammu City and its adjoining areas to ensure that the general public may get non-adulterated and quality food items as well as sweets.
The drive was conducted in Jammu City, Talab Tillo, Janipur, Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Narwal, Satwari and several other areas by a Food Safety team headed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety wing, Municipal limits, Jammu, on the directions of Commissioner, Drug & Food Control Organization, Shakeel-ur-Rehman.
The team inspected several establish food establishments, particularly sweet shops, bakery shops and those dealing with milk and milk products and lifted 12 samples of ‘Fenian’, ‘Kaltamme’, milk and milk products to check their quality and adulteration if any. All the samples were sent to food testing laboratory for testing.
The Food Safety team also challaned six food operators for processing and keeping the food items in insanitary conditions. The team directed the erring traders to process the food items and keep them for sale in hygienic condition and warned them of strict action for repeating the violation.
The team also instructed the food operators not to process and display the food items in open and avoid reusing the oil for cooking of food products. The food operators were also directed to provide only quality and hygienic food items to the customers.
