JAMMU, Dec 24: A Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) Programme for traders held today at Ware House, Jammu.
The programme was conducted by Department of Food Safety and Drugs Control (FSDC) in collaboration with Traders Federation, Ware House (Nehru Market, Jammu) under the chairmanship of Dheeraj Gupta, senior vice president of the Federation wherein Nodal Officer Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner FSDC Jammu imparted training.
During the programme, Shantanu Gupta and Kirti Gupta, experts from FSSAI New Delhi answered the different queries of the traders.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Parvesh Kumar emphasized that for the safety of public health, mass awareness of the food safety culture is imperative and should be given prime importance along with enforcement of food safety regulations. For this purpose it is imperative to organize trainings and subsequent awareness programmes, he added.
He said that Food Safety Training and Certification is an initiative by FSSAI whereby food safety trainings are conducted for target groups in the food business to maximize knowledge and awareness of food safety regulations and policies to ensure food safety and hygiene.
On the occasion, Federation general secretary Deepak Gupta assured the department of full cooperation, saying that traders never compromised with quality and consumer’s safety, but the department should also create an environment in which the business can work smoothly.
Gupta said that at present, the businessmen are entangled in book work of Income tax return, TDS and TCS return in addition to GST returns. Throughout the year, the trader is busy in completing books. In such a situation, the food safety department should also come forward in cooperation with the traders so that the traders can work in a good environment.
Junior vice president Munish Mahajan, secretary Abhimanyu Gupta and cashier Vishal Gupta along with Kirti Gupta and Kunal Gupta were also present on the occasion.
