‘Those left out of mainstream our priority’

KATHUA , Dec 11: Asserting that Narendra Modi Government has done away wth obsolete rules and laws for ease of living, Union Minister in PMO with Independent charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh today said instead of making new rules this Government has abolished outdated rules to enable every secction and segment of society including weaker sections and Divyangs to contribute in nation building as per their capacity and capability.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a mammoth rally, ‘Divyang Parivar Maha-Samelan’ organised here today at the initiative of a social organisation “Saksham”, the Union Minister said that Modi Government is committed to provide equal opportunities and enable every person to do best of his capacity and capability. “This Government has done away with all those rules which may discourage the people to contribute as per their ability,” he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that every decision by this Government is taken with extreme sensitivity for social and economic benefit of the people of the country irrespective of their caste, creed, religion or region. “Our motto is to provide equal opportunities to all individuals without any discrimination”, he added. Taking a dig at opposition parties, the Union Minister said while most of previous Governments take pride in bringing so and so many rules, this Government takes pride in remitting 1600 obsolete rules and outdated laws which were great hindrance in the development of the country and many such laws were also either amended or repealed for the welfare of Divyangs like the Divyang Pension rules etc.
Dr Jitendra Singh maintained that Narendra Modi led Government is dedicated to those who were left out of mainstream by the previous governments.
Addressing the rally, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that from the day PM Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India, certain drastic steps were taken by him for the welfare of Divyangs. Be that the fee remission for Divyangs in Civil Services Examination, two choices of home cadre for Divyangs qualifying civil services examination, increase in reservation for Divyangs from 3 percent to 4 percent, increase in the Divyang pension etc., every other step has been taken by this Government for the welfare of Divyangs, he added.
For the welfare of Divyangs, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that 15000 posts meant for them which were earlier not filled were filled under a special drive by the Government which was only possible under PM Narendra Modi who suggested that the term ‘Divyang’ (Divine Body) instead of ‘Viklang’ be used for persons with disability.
Earlier on his arrival here, Dr Jitendra Singh was received by a large number of supporters and prominent political leaders including former Minister Rajiv Jasrotia, former MLAs Kuldip Raj and Jagdish Raj Sapolia , DDC members led by Vice Chairman Raghunandan Singh Babloo, Municipal Councillors and Chairmen, former Board Chairman Rashpal Verma, BJP President Gopal Mahajan, former President Prem Nath Dogra, Mandal Presidents, Mahila Morcha President and her team, BJYM office bearers and others.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also said that for making India reach the top leaving behind every other developed nation in terms of development in coming years, the Divyangs can’t be left out, they also need to contribute in the national development of nation for the next 25 years of journey of ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’ so that their contribution will too be written in the golden words when India would be achieving its centenary of independence.
Dr. Jitendra Singh further said that providing ‘Digital Life Certificate’ to the pensioners using ‘Face Recognition Technology’ has been one of the drastic steps taken by the Government for the convenience of the pensioners who were earlier facing many inconveniences regarding continuation of their pensions.
Appreciating SAKSHAM for organising this ‘Divyang Parivar Maha-Samelan’ at Kathua today, Dr. Jitendra said that this Maha-Samelan’ organised is also a step towards ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’ and is the first-ever ‘Maha-Samelan’ organised so far for the welfare of Divyangs.
During the program, Dr. Jitendra Singh distributed kits among 10 TB patients adopted by him to take care of their daily needs to accomplish PM Narendra Modi’s vision of TB Free India by 2025.
Also during the event, MD & CEO, J&K Bank, Baldev Prakash contributed 100 wheelchairs and 100 special tricycles under ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ to ‘SAKSHAM’ in presence of Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh.
Dr Jitendra Sing said J&K Bank can walk an extra mile to support the Divyang (specially-abled) persons under its CSR besides providing them completely hassle-free banking and relevant financial services so that this section of our society also reaps the benefits of Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive growth and development.
Besides, thousands of Divyangs, the ‘Maha-Samelan’ was attended by National Joint Secretary, SAKSHAM Anurag Kumar, president SAKSHAM J&K Abhay Pargal, DDC vice chairman, Kathua and Executive Member, SAKSHAM, Raghunandan Singh Babloo, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua and SSP Kathua.
Earlier, in his presidential address, Baldev Prakash congratulated the founders and organisers of SAKSHAM for a great humanitarian mission to build and transform the lives of Divyangs by making them self reliant. He highlighted the emphasis religio-cultural scriptures of the country like Mahabharata lays on virtues of self-reliance.
“Besides personal will and people’s sympathy, it is social help in the form of organisations like SAKSHAM that encourages and supports these Divyang persons and their families to become self reliant so as to meet their daily challenges. And we feel very glad to collaborate with SAKSHAM and salute the organisation for this great socio-national cause”‘, he said.
He further added, “It is this spirit of self-reliance that has been incorporated into the economic policy of the nation under the strong and decisive leadership of Prime Minister, as Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan because the principle of self-reliance remains at the core of strong and powerful nations.”
Speaking on the occasion, National joint Secretary SAKSHAM, Abhay Pargal Gupta, complimented the Bank for the gesture and hoped for its further collaboration with the organisation so that the benefits reach a wider section of Diviyang persons with other disabilities as well.
Dy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Panday, SSP Kathua, R.C Kotwal, District Social Welfare, Officer, Kathua, SAKSHAM President (J&K) Pawan Dev Singh , Bank’s Zonal Head, Kathua, Sanjeev Kumar and other senior officers from the Bank were also present on the occasion.
