SRINAGAR, July 30: A deputation of Forum of Recognised Colleges of Education (FORCE), led by its president and former minister, R S Chib met the Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan here today and discussed the issues related to private B.Ed colleges.
The members of the deputation represented to the Governor about the varied difficulties which were being faced by the private B.Ed Colleges in the State and sought his intervention.
Later, talking to Excelsior Mr Chib disclosed that first of all FORCE members extended gratitude to the Governor for doing justice with the students and managements of B.Ed colleges of Jammu region by ensuring two year term for the B.ED and M.Ed courses in Kashmir as well as in Jammu regions.
They further pleaded that intake capacity of these private B.Ed colleges should be taken care of for ensuring economic viability of these institutions. The FORCE members also suggested to include OBC and RBA category along with SC and ST, for according concession in the percentage of marks for seeking admissions in the B.Ed and M.Ed courses for these category students.
The members also demanded that the fee of these courses be fixed at par with the adjoining Punjab and Himachal states and medium of instructions should be both Hindi and English instead of only English. Moreover, for examination purpose, the languages like English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi be considered to facilitate the students from different regions and those from outside the state.
The Governor listened to their issues patiently and assured that he would discuss the matter with the Minister for Education as some policy issues were involved in it.
