Ford Figo facelift was in works for a long time. The Figo hatchback is also known as Ford Ka in the international market. In 2018, the facelifted Ford Ka was introduced globally. Ford India has confirmed that Figo facelift will be launched in March. This time Ford Figo is going to sport more than simple cosmetic updates. Figo is the entry-level car for the automaker. Ford has a diverse lineup in India which includes the American made Ford Mustang coupe that is imported to India, Aspire compact sedan, Freestyle CUV, EcoSport crossover, and the recently updated Endeavour SUV.
The exterior changes will follow the design language of the international spec- Ford Ka. We can expect a very strong resemblance to the newly introduced Ford Freestyle. Especially, the front fascia of the Figo facelift will borrow elements like fog lamps, honeycomb grille, and bumpers from the Freestyle.
At the heart of the matter, facelifted Figo will drop the four-cylinder petrol engine in favor of a new 1.2-Liter Dragon series petrol engine. This engine debuted in the Ford Freestyle CUV and it produces 96 PS and 120 Nm of torque. The Figo will be available with three engine options – 1.2L petrol, 1.5L petrol, and 1.5L diesel. The 1.5L petrol engine will only be available with an automatic transmission. Rest of the engines would be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Ford India could also launch CNG fitted versions targeted towards the fleet operators.
On the interior, the Figo will feature more usable space. The main highlight of the interior is the new 6.5-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. The interior will come with a single tone finish and new cloth upholstery. This SYNC3 unit supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Figo will come with standard safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. The high-end variants will come with features such as hill assist and brake assist.
Ford Endeavour facelift was launched on 22nd February, the company wants to carry the momentum forward with the launch of Figo facelift in March. 2nd gen Figo was introduced in 2015 and it is a bit long in the tooth now. The 2019 Ford Figo facelift will bring significant mechanical and design changes. The refreshed Figo will take the competition to B segment hatchbacks like the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Swift. Like the Freestyle, Ford is expected to undercut the competitors with the pricing of the Figo. The price for the 2019 Ford Figo should be around 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
