Forecast of snow, rains in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Mar 14 : Weatherman has forecast light to moderate rains in plains and snow in the higher reaches in Kashmir in next 24 hours while hills had fresh snowfall today with rains lashing the Valley.
Director Meteorological Department Sonam Lotus said that weather would remain overcast with light to moderate rain in plains and snow over higher reaches of Kashmir in next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, a Meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 5.8 degree Celsius against 3.8 degree Celsius the previous night.
The temperature was 2.1 degree Celsius above normal for this time of the year in Srinagar.
Qazigund recorded a low of 5.5 degree Celsius against 3.7 degree Celsius the previous night while mercury settled at 0.6 degree Celsius against minus 0.7 degree Celsius the previous night in Pahlagam.
Kokernag recorded a low of 4.1 degree Celsius against 2.1 degree Celsius the previous night.
The minimum temperature settled at minus 2.4 degree Celsius in Kupwara against 0.3 degree Celsius the previous night.
Gulmarg received 105.1cm of fresh snow earlier this week, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.2 degree Celsius against minus 4.4 degree Celsius the previous night.
