JAMMU, Nov 30: Department of Forensic Medicine, AIIMS Jammu conducted first ever workshop on “After Crime, Scene Recreation and Training in Solving Fire Arm Murder Cases”, for the J&K Police today.
The workshop was inaugurated by ED & CEO of AIIMS Jammu, Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta along with Professor Dr Dinesh Rao (HoD Forensic Medicine) and was preceded over by GR Bharadwaj (SP) and Rominish Gupta (SSP). A total of 100 officers consisting of 20 Deputy SPs, 25 Inspectors and 60 Sub Inspectors from Jammu, Samba and Udhampur Police Academy participated in the workshop.
Professor Dr Dinesh Rao trained the officers on the examination of the crime scene and collection of evidences and he also explained the standard operating procedures for Investigating Firearm Deaths. He highlighted the importance of Body Bags in shifting the Dead from the Crime Scene and at the same time impressed upon the examination of evidence and processing the crime scene and its importance in the prosecution.
This After Crime, Scene Recreation and Training is first of its kind in the Country wherein a crime reported (Kisthwar VDGs murder) was taken as a background and the same was recreated and reviewed on the investigation aspects besides highlighting the methods adopted in zeroing on the accused.
The officers expressed their satisfaction and requested the Professor Dr Rao for more such Interactions in the interest of efficient investigations and justice delivery. It may be reminded that the Department of Forensic Medicine, AIIMS Jammu has started with the autopsy services on 27th September and is well equipped to handle expert work on death investigation from across the J&K, and assist the Police in all death investigation and crime scene examinations.
