DODA, Dec 19: Forest Department here today launched a massive operation to contain multiple forest fires in Bhaderwah Forest Division.
Under the supervision of Sandeep Kumar, Conservator of Forests, swift action was started and resources were mobilized and the department has initiated round the clock monitoring across the affected areas.
A specialized team of 50 personnel, including Forest Protection Force men and local volunteers were deployed to control three different forest fire incidents in Katyara, Nalthi and Trown area of Bhaderwah Division.
Sandeep Kumar, Conservator of Forests also announced comprehensive measures to address the situation.
He said, “We have activated our emergency response protocols and mobilized all the available resources to protect our forest wealth.”
Kumar also said that in an unprecedented move highlighting the urgency of the situation, all kind of leaves of the field staff, except for medical emergencies, have been cancelled through a special circular.
“The DFOs have been directed to lodge FIRs against miscreants who kindle fire in nearby private areas,” he maintained adding, “The department has also intensified its preventive measures, including increased patrolling and early warning systems. Special teams have been stationed at strategic locations to ensure quick response to any new fire outbreaks.”
Kumar also said that the involvement of local volunteers has significantly strengthened department’s firefighting capabilities.
“Coordination between Forest Protection Force and local communities has been particularly effective in creating firebreaks and controlling the spread,” he continued.
The Conservator of Forests said: “Dedication of our forest personnel and the support from local communities has been remarkable in this challenging time. The department continues to monitor the situation closely and is maintaining high alert across the division.”
