Forest employee, unknown woman killed in mishaps

JAMMU, Mar 2: In two separate road accidents occurred today in city and its outskirts, a Forest Department employee and an unknown woman were killed.
“Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Barkatullah, resident of Vailabagh (Sidhra) was hit and killed on the spot by a Tata Tiago car (bearing registration number JK21C-6732) being rashly driven by one Sunil of Bari-Brahmana,” a police official said, adding, the mishap occurred today at about 8: 30 PM near Sidhra bridge.
The official said the accused driver tried to flee after leaving the man dead but with the prompt response of the Sidhra police, he was arrested along with the vehicle at a distance from the crime spot. “The body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu while a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station Nagrota and further investigation started.
Another mishap occurred this evening at last Morh, Gandhi Nagar, where an unidentified woman pedestrian was hit and seriously injured by a speeding unknown vehicle. The injured woman was taken to hospital, but she was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The body of the woman was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH Jammu for identification/postmortem while Gandhi Nagar police has registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
