Forest fire along LoC in Mendhar

MENDHAR, May 8: A major fire broke out along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar Sector of Poonch on Wednesday.
The fire started from the Pakistan side and spread on this side of the fencing and covered about 2 to 3 sq kms of area including, Mendhar village near LoC in Mendhar Sector.
There was thick smoke and high flames being seen from the distance along the LoC. “Alert has been sounded at the adjoining Indian posts,” the sources said.
The army suspected it may be a strategy of Pakistan to push militants to this side taking cover of smoke and fire. They said that mine explosion sounds were also heard in the area, creating panic in the area.
