MENDHAR, Nov 23 : The land mine blasts along the Line of Control in Balakote forest area of Mendhar Sub division in Poonch created scare among the villagers.
Reports said that forest fire in Balakote area since Monday evening trigged dozens of land mine explosions. These blasts created a panic in the entire Balakote belt. The deafening sound of the blasts was audible from long distance during the night and morning hours as well. The Army authorities and Forest authorities sounded alert in the adjoining hamlets.
On contacting, SDPO Mendhar, Zaheer Abass Jafri said that Balakote forest has caught fire along the LoC resulting dozens of blasts since last night. He said no loss of human life or property was reported.
