“In view of the instructions given by Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs Department, Javeed Ahmad Natkhan, Range Officer Gr. I, Tangmarg Range/Gulmarg Range is attached in the Office of DFO Special Division Tangmarg for his misconduct and misbehaviour with MLA of the area,” read an order issued by the Forest Department.
“A summary enquiry will be submitted by the Conservator of Forests in two days without failure,” the order read.
However, an official of the Forest Department told Excelsior that there was no altercation between Shah and Natkhan. “The MLA held two meetings recently with the officers of the various departments including that of Forest Department but there was no misconduct or misbehaviour with the MLA on part of Natkhan,” he added.
The official said that recently the Forest Department lodged a complaint with the police against Gulmarg Cable Car authorities for illegally constructing a path in forest land without any forest clearance. “This might not have gone well with the MLA and he might have complained against the Range Officer,” the official said.
Shah was not available for comment on the issue.
