Forester attached for green-felling, graft charges

KATHUA, June 23: A Block Forest Officer (Forester) of Bani Range of Basohli Forest Division has been attached and inquiry initiated against him on the charges of graft and felling of some green trees in his jurisdiction.
A senior Forest official said that Forester, Salim Altaf posted in Bani Range of Basohli Forest Division has been attached to the office of DFO concerned on the charges of graft and felling of some green trees in the Block. He said the official is habitual of such activities and was also issued warnings by the senior officials several times during the past.
He said a committee, comprising of DFO Kathua, Rajan Singh and DFO Basohli, Munish Bhardwaj besides two other officials, has been constituted to probe the allegations and recommend action against Block Forest officer, Bani, Salim.
