Formation of united front to advocate for Jammu’s rights proposed at DSS

JAMMU, Sept 17: A meeting was convened at Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS), Jammu, under the chairmanship of former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman here today to discuss the formation of a united front that would advocate for the rights of Jammu unitedly.
The meeting began by paying tributes to the security personnel, who attained martyrdom in the recent terrorist attacks.
Following the tribute, representatives from various political and non-political organizations across Jammu division came together for a crucial discussion.
Recognizing the need for a united front to address the pressing issues faced by the people of Jammu, Gulchain Singh Charak, President of Dogra Sadar Sabha, proposed the formation of an organization.
All representatives present in the meeting unanimously agreed to this proposition and jointly decided to announce the organization’s name in the upcoming meeting.
Attendees included former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Gulchain Singh Charak, President of Dogra Sadar Sabha, ID Khajuria, President of Internationalist Democratic Platform, Manish Sahni, State President of Shiv Sena (UBT), Ved Mahajan, former Congress Assembly Council member, and other political and social activists.
During the meeting, various serious issues concerning the people of Jammu division were discussed extensively. The representatives unanimously agreed to collectively advocate for the people of Jammu and exert pressure on the existing administrative system of the Union Territory to address public concerns.
Several key topics were deliberated, including making Jammu toll and smart meter-free, restoring the erstwhile state’s status, reinstating the democratic system, deploying local bureaucrats, safeguarding the rights of Bhumiputras, and protecting the interests of Jammu’s people, farmers, and rural administrative systems.
After thorough discussions on these issues, it was decided to take collective action to address them effectively.
The representatives at the meeting urged the people and organizations of Jammu to unite and support the newly formed organization in safeguarding Jammu’s interests.
