JAMMU, Aug 3: Former DGP of J&K, Dr Ashok Bhan today visited Balgran-a charitable home for children, at Channi Himmat (Jammu) and had an interaction with the inmates of the Home on “Country First, Always and Every Time”.
A large number of prominent citizens including Prem Gupta (former IGP J&K), AK Arora (patron in chief, Balgran), Vinod Raina (president Balgran), K B Jandial (Retired IAS), Subhash Sharma (Retired IFS), JK Gupta (vice president, Balgran), H C Jerath (Retired Chief Engineer, PHE), Suneel Gupta (Retired ADGM, J&K Bank), Ravinder Gupta, (Retired Chief Engineer, Electrical), OP Sharma (Retired KAS), Urmil Gupta (advisor), Dr Sunita Sharma (Principal), Sadhna Kachroo (Vice Principal) and faculty members of Bal Bharti Public School and many life members of Balgran were present on the occasion.
Dr Bhan interacted with students of the Balgran School on the duties and responsibilities of the members of the civil society and young students to ensure that India remains always first in all of their actions. He shared his experience with regard to such events where India figured first during his life time, particularly after independence. He cited the examples of ever green songs of various firms in India soon after Independence and Indo-China War as to how these drew the attention of the masses regarding their responsibility towards the nation.
He narrated his own experience as a school going student regarding moral and ethical values in teaching during those days and motivated the students to be responsible citizens in their efforts on “Country First, Always and Every Time”. Before interaction, Dr Bhan had a round of the Balgran Complex.
In his welcome address, Vinod Raina, gave brief history of Balgran, its ongoing activities for the welfare of underprivileged children and highlighted star achievements of the Balgran Home in this regard.
In the end, Prof RD Sharma (honourable secretary) presented vote of thanks.
