Former Dy Chairman of JKLC Micky joins Cong

JAMMU, Sept 28: In a significant development, former Dy Chairman of J&K Legislative Council Arvinder Singh Micky and several BJP’s Youth wing activists from Sidhra, Jammu East joined Congress party.
Micky joined the party in presence of AICC general secretary and Incharge J&K, Bharat Sinh Solanki. Manoj Yadav, Jt Secretary AICC, and Yogesh Sawhney former Minister and Congress- NC candidate from Jammu East were also present on the occasion.
Later, in the evening, several young members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Sidhra, Jammu East, officially joined the Congress party in presence of Sawhney. The former Minister welcomed the joining of A. S. Micky and said it would bolster the party support at the grassroots level and augment progress.
The new members from Sidhra Jammu East were also warmly welcomed by Sawhney, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in politics and its role in strengthening the party’s grassroots efforts.
Addressing the gathering, he expressed his gratitude and optimism about the growing appeal of Congress among the youth. He emphasized that the involvement of young minds brings fresh perspectives and energy, which is crucial for driving meaningful change at the local level.
“The youth are the backbone of any progressive movement. Their participation enhances the grassroots performance of the party and ensures a better connection with the issues that matter most to the people,” Sawhney remarked.
The young individuals stated that their decision to switch parties stemmed from their belief in the core values and inclusive vision of the Congress. They cited the Congress party’s focus on democratic principles, social justice, and its commitment to upliftment of marginalized sections as key reasons for their shift.
Sawhney further added that this marks a significant boost for Congress party, as the party gears up for the upcoming elections. He said that there is a broader trend of dissatisfaction among people with the current political climate because of various problems in Jammu East which remain unaddressed such as that of unemployment, electricity bills, property tax, lack of basic facilities among others.
