LEH, Sept 10: Former Executive Councillor (EC), LAHDC Kargil, Stanzin Wangyal Gara and Ven Sangdup from Padum Monastery called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retired), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal and Commissioner/Secretary to the LG, Dr L Franklin, were also present in the meeting.
Wangyal and Ven Sangdup, while expressing their gratitude for the declaration of Zanskar as a district, requested the LG for sanctioning funds to construct a winter-friendly multi-purpose community hall at Pipiting in Zanskar. The LG asked Dr Pawan Kotwal to look into the matter on a priority basis.
Meanwhile, another delegation comprising members of ex-Servicemen Union (ESM) Zanskar led by its president, Tsering Dorjey, called on Brig Mishra at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Dr Pawan Kotwal, Dr L Franklin, and Secretary PDD Vikram Singh Malik were present in the meeting.
The delegation requested the LG’s intervention in a land dispute at Kojothang, Zanskar about the ex-servicemen there. The delegation informed the LG that the land reserved for ex-servicemen in 1985 had been infringed upon by individuals and sought LG’s intervention in the allotment of the land to the ESM Union Zanskar, for which they had approached the district court in 2019 without any success.
The LG asked Dr Pawan Kotwal to examine similar cases about the allotment of land to ex-servicemen groups, war heroes and war widows. He informed the delegation that any decision taken shall be strictlyper the provision of laws.
