Former J&K minister passes away in Srinagar

SRINAGAR:  Former Jammu and Kashmir minister Ghulam Mohiddin Soffi passed away at a local hospital in Srinagar today after a prolonged illness.

Soffi was about 70.  He was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) recently where he breathed his last this morning.

He was Forest Minister in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-Congress coalition government, headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2002.

Soffi joined PDP after serving his association with Peoples Conference (PC) and contested election from Handwara constituency in Kupwara district. (agencies)
