Then suddenly, SHO Channi Himmat along with some policemen arrived there and asked the media-persons to leave the venue. The police made the media-persons to move out from the venue and then bolted the main gate from outside. He was debarred from talking to the media and placed under house-arrest.
It may be recalled that two days ago, PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma was arrested from the Congress office in Jammu when he was about to address a press conference. This is the second such incident where media was not allowed to perform its legitimate duty.
Later, talking to the Excelsior on phone, Pranab said that he wanted to project demand of statehood for Jammu, provision of domicile certificate like in Himachal Pradesh and restrictions on youth from other states to apply for jobs in J&K as this new development in J&K would badly affect the educated youth of the State but unfortunately, the Administration has been trying to gag the voice of the political persons by imposing unjustified and unethical restrictions. He described this move as anti-democratic and infringement of the Fundamental Rights of the people of J&K.
