Former Speaker deposes before court in fodder scam

PATNA, Apr 24:
Former Bihar Assembly speaker and Congress MLA Sadanand Singh today recorded his statement before Special CBI court in connection with RC-A 63/1996, a case of multi-crore rupee fodder scam involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad and former Bihar Chief Minister Dr Jagannath Mishra.
Mr Singh deposed before the designated CBI judge V K Srivastava hearing the cases of fodder scam committed in the animal husbandry department of Bihar.
During his deposition, Mr Singh said while serving the post of Bihar assembly speaker he had granted permission for prosecution of the then MLAs Dr R K Rana and Jagdish Sharma in 2002.
Mr Singh said before granting permission he had gone through the documents and had found prima facie case against the two MLAs.
The case, RC-63-A 1996 was relating to the fraudulent withdrawal of over Rs 40 lakhs in animal husbandry department of Bihar from Bhagalpur and Banka treasuries on the basis of forged bills.(PTI)
