Formulate DPRs of Rs 1500 cr WB funded project within one week: Bukhari

SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Minister for Revenue Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari today directed officers to ensure early completion of the DPRs of the projects to be undertaken under the World Bank funded scheme so that the work on these can be completed as soon as possible.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened here to discuss the measures being undertaken for the effective and speedy implementation of Rs 1500 crore World Bank funded Flood Recovery and Management projects for Jhelum and Tawi rivers.
Financial Commissioner, Planning & Development Depart-ment, B B Vyas, Commi-ssioner Secretary Higher Education Dr Asgar Samoon, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Comm-erce, Shailendra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary School Education Shaleen Kabra,  Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development Depar-tment, Hridesh Kumar, Secretary Health, Dr M K Bandari, Secretary Irrigation & PHE, Sanjeev Verma, MD JKPCC  Dilip Thussu, Director General Fire and Emergency  Services, RS Sodhi and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Bukhari while asking the officers to ensure that the DPRs meant to be submitted to the World Bank should be formulated within a week’s time maintained that every care should be taken to ensure that these are in consonance with the parameters laid down in the WB guidelines so that these can be sent for according approval for undertaking the required works.
He said special care should be taken to involve experts of the related fields in order to make these DPRs broad-based and in tune with the measures to be taken in view of any eventuality which may arise due to floods and other natural calamities in future.
He also directed expediting the study for carrying out river morphology and embankment assessment of Jhelum, Tawi, other rivers and water bodies. He said that the officers should coordinate their efforts to remove the bottlenecks if any so that the DPRs are fast paced.
The meeting was told that the DPRs under the R&B sectors for 12 bridges and four roads in the State and five hospitals and six schools have already been formulated and would be sent to the World Bank for vetting so that work can be started. It was also given that the DPRs have already been prepared for the colleges and would also be submitted to World Bank.
It was also given out by the Housing and Urban Development Secretary that DPRs of the sewerage and drainage projects to be undertaken under the project are being prepared and would be submitted shortly.
The meeting was told that under the industrial sector DPRs totaling to Rs. 116.20  crore have been formulated which include rehabilitation of Kashmir Hatt at Pampore, development of Handicraft Cluster in flood affected areas, creation & maintenance of e-commerce portal for J&K Handicrafts (S&E), Composite Market Centre for whole chain of Silk activity Government Silk Factory Rajbagh and Composite Market Centre for Whole Chain of Government Woolen Mills Bemina.
