LUDHIANA, Oct 22: Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana launched its Heart Failure Clinic here.
This was disclosed by Vivan Singh Gill, Facility Director Fortis Hospital Ludhiana during a meeting today in presence of Dr Paramdeep Singh Sandhu (Senior Cardiologist- Fortis Hospital Ludhiana) a dedicated Heart Failure Clinic at the hospital, in support of World Heart Day Campaign. The epidemics of diabetes, hypertension and Ischemic heart disease is giving rise to a steady increase in incidence of heart failures, he pointed out.
According to Dr Sandhu, the reasons of heart failure could damage to the heart muscle caused by coronary artery disease or too much strain on the heart because of years of untreated high blood pressure or an abnormal heart valve. The typical symptoms of a heart failure are difficulty in breathing, chronic cough, swollen ankles, legs and abdomen, weight gain, frequent urination during night, loss of appetite, fatigue, weakness, rapid or irregular heartbeats, patients often experience a pounding sensation in the chest.
Giving more information regarding the Clinic, Dr Sandhu said the worldwide prevalence and incidence rates of heart failure (HF) are approaching epidemic proportions, as evident by the relentless increase in the number of HF hospitalizations, the growing number of HF attributable deaths, and the spiraling costs associated with the care of HF patients.
At the end, Mr Gill said that we at Fortis Hospital Ludhiana work as a team and we have best world class facilities with all the latest techniques, equipments and specialised doctors and paramedical staff for all the specialities all under one roof.
