JAMMU, Dec 29: All J&K SC & ST Retired Employees Forum has appealed the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir UT to direct the General Administration Department to issue necessary instructions to the recruiting agencies to adhere to the Supreme Court observation that General category vacancies in public appointment are open to all aspirants belonging to Reserved categories.
The appeal was made during a meeting of the management body of the Forum, held under the chairmanship of the Forum president Prof G L Thapa. The meet welcomed the Supreme Court observation cum clarification that the candidates belonging to any of the vertical reserved categories are entitled to be selected on the basis of their merit and their selection can not be counted against reserved categories for the vertical reservation they belong to. Unfortunately, this precedence was not being followed by some Recruitment agencies of J&K UT, they added and urged the Lt Governor to issue necessary instructions in light of Supreme Court observation.
The meeting was attended by M L Hans, G l Bhagat, S D Digra, Amarnath, T C Bavoria, G D Dogra, Master Dev Raj, Des Raj Sangral, V D Triyal and others.
