UDHAMPUR, Dec 24: Dr Yogeshwar Gupta, Chairman Udhampur Municipal Council along with former MLA Pawan Gupta laid foundation stone of “Rain Water Harvesting System’ in the Botanical Garden of the College, here today.
Lauding the initiatives of the Principal and his team. Pawan Gupta said that it is really the dire need of the hour to conserve every drop of water. He further said that we must give back to Mother Nature what we get from it. He also assured the College administration of all help and support in every kind of endeavor.
Dr Yogeshwar Gupta highlighted the role of educational institution in spreading awareness among the masses for conserving Mother Nature. Emphasizing the need to conserve water, he said that installation of ‘Rain Water Harvesting System’ should be made compulsory for every Government and Private Institutions as well as residential houses.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the College Principal Prof (Dr). Nutan Kumar Resutra said that College has devised three pronged strategy to enhance College infrastructure and assets for the augmentation of quality education to the students. Dr Resutra also asserted that he has got tremendous human resource in the College which shall definitely help in march towards achieving excellence in academic as well as other activities for the holistic education to the students.
Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri, HoD Botany briefed the gathering about the importance and utility of harvested rain water for the Botanical Garden. A new kind of ecosystem shall come up in place within 2-3 years which would be of great educative value to the students of the College, he added.
On the occasion, saplings of Neem Tree were also planted in the College Vatika by the dignitaries. Angrez Singh Rana, Project Manager IWMP Udhampur, was also present on the occasion and interacted with the audience to highlight significance of water harvesting scheme. Among those, who participated in the event, include Dr Chander Shekhar, Principal GCW Udhampur, Dr Udhey Bhanu, HoD Mathematics, Prof Sudhir Singh, (HoD English GCW Udhampur), Ashok Khajuria, Chairman Bhartiya College of Education Udhampur, Dr Ved Kumar, HoD Chemistry, Prof Kamal Kishore and other faculty members. Dr Rippy Bawa from the Department of English, conducted proceedings of the programme.
