JAMMU, Sept 1: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) claimed to have foiled four bovine smuggling bids in Jammu district by rescuing 23 animals besides seizure of four vehicles of the smugglers.
A police official said in the first incident, a team from Nagrota Police Station intercepted a vehicle (JK03K/6169) and rescued six bovines.
The driver managed to flee the scene, leaving the vehicle behind, he said.
He said a case FIR number 234/2024 under the relevant sections of the law has been registered against the accused driver.
He added that two more bovine smuggling bids were thwarted by Police Post Manwal, leading to rescue of 14 animals and seizure of two vehicles.
According to him, the accused have been booked in cases FIR numbers 201 and 202 under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.
In the fourth incident, he said, the Malla Bharore Border Police Post foiled another smuggling attempt, rescuing three bovines and seizing a vehicle (JK21-0497).
According to him, the accused driver fled the scene while a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Khour.
All the cases are under investigations, added the police official.
