Four brothers among 7 acquitted of murder charges

JAMMU, July 10: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu, Kartar Singh today acquitted seven persons included five real brothers of the murder charges as the prosecution failed to prove its case.
Those who have been acquitted are Pawan Kumar, Raj Kumar Pandey, Sukhdev Sharma alias Sukha, Chander Mani, Ravi Dutt alias Raman Kumar, sons of Om Parkash, Sohan Lal, son of Beli Ram and Raj Kumar, son of Sansar Chand.
According to the prosecution allegations, these accused persons had beaten to death Rajni Devi on February 18, 2011 at their residence at Chak Sandwah.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Shabir Choudhary appearing for the State whereas Senior Advocate BS Slathia and Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi and Advocate Sudershan Sharma for the accused persons, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “not even a single witness has supported the prosecution story and even son of the deceased has turned hostile. As such, there is no need to record the statements of the accused under the provisions of Section 342 CrPC as there is no incriminating evidence against them which is required to be explained by them”.
Accordingly, the accused were acquitted of the charges for want of evidence.
