RAMBAN, Dec 8: Continuing the drive against Motor Vehicle Act (MVA) violations, Traffic Police National Highway (NHW) under the supervision of SSP NHW, Rohit Baskotra registered five FIRs for overloading and endangering human lives and arrested four drivers besides seizing 78 vehicles and Challaning 2032 for violation of MVA.
Sources said that a Traffic Police team led by Inspector Novneet Verma, DTI Ramban and Dy.SP Traffic Ramban, Iftkhar Ahmed intercepted a bus bearing registration number JK02AW-3015 on Ramban-Gool road.
On checking the vehicle cops found it overloaded with 25 passengers in excess to its seating capacity. The vehicle was seized and a case in FIR no. 342/2023 Under Section 336 IPC 39/192 MVA was registered at Police Station Ramban and driver of the vehicle Surjit Singh was arrested.
Traffic Police in Ramban while checking vehicles at Seri intercepted a bus bearing registration number JK02BB-2527 while on way from Banihal to Jammu and found it overloaded with 18 passengers more than its seating capacity.
On this a case in FIR 343/2023 US 336 IPC 39/192 MVA was registered at Police Station Ramban and the vehicle was seized on the spot and the driver Tanveer Ahmed, resident of Ramsoo was arrested.
Traffic Police team Udhampur led by DySp Traffic Arun Jamwal seized one matador bearing registration number JK14G-2947 from Dhar Road with 34 passengers more than its seating capacity.
In this case an FIR with number 625/2023 US 279/336 IPC was registered at Police Station Udhampur and the driver was arrested.
Traffic Police team Udhampur led by SO Traffic Manwal, ASI Tara Chand seized an overloaded minibus bearing registration number JK14-7619 while on way from Manwal to Udhampur. In this case an FIR with number 622/2023 US 279/336 IPC was registered at Police Post Round Domail.
Sharing details SSP Traffic NHW, Rohit Baskotra said in the last one week 2032 vehicles were booked for different MVA violations whereas 78 vehicles which were unfit to ply on road were seized to ensure safety of passengers.
