Four drug peddlers held with 750 gm heroin

JAMMU, Apr 20: Police in Jammu District apprehended four drug peddlers in separate operations and seized 750 grams of heroin.
A police spokesperson said that in one operation, a police team led by SDPO East, Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari, along with SHO Bahu Fort, Inspector Shiv Dev Singh, and Incharge Police Post Narwal, SI Lalit Sharma, stopped a suspect driving a black Scorpio car (JK 01X 6636) near Railway Bridge Narwal during a naka duty.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 700 grams of heroin, resulting in the arrest of the suspect identified as Sheikh Waheed of Haiderpura, Srinagar.
In another operation, he said, police teams of Police Post Sidhra led by SDPO Nagrota, Akash Kohli, SHO Nagrota, Inspector Vishav Partap Singh, and Incharge Police Post Sidhra, PSI Arun Kumar, nabbed three suspects during patrolling duty.
One of the suspects, identified as Mohd Dilawar of Chennai Udhampur at present Gulshan Nagar Jammu, was found with 45 grams of heroin, he said.
The other two suspects, identified as Ravi Kumar of Kakryal Katra, and Joginder Kumar of Latti, Udhampur, were found with 2.5 grams of heroin each, added the police spokesperson.
Two separate cases have been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act, in FIR number 158/2023 under section 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and FIR number 162/2023 under section 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, at concerned police stations and further investigations taken up.
