Four held with 1.5 kg Poppy straw, Opium

JAMMU, Dec 10: In two separate cases, Bagh-e-Bahu Police today arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 1.5 kilograms of Poppy straw and 35 grams of Opium.
“During naka checking at Bravo 3 near Forest check post at National Highway, a team of Bagh-e-Bahu Police intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02BX-8795 for checking,” a police spokesman said.
He said on search, 35 grams of Opium was recovered from two suspects identified as Mashooq Ahmed son of Ghulam Rasool of Ragoora (Jammu) and Jameel Ahmed son of Irshad Ahmed of Pandoka Colony (Janipur), who were inside the truck.
Similarly, a team of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu during checking of vehicles at another naka intercepted a vehicle (bearing registration number JK21D-3786), which was going from Narwal towards Sidhra. On search, 1.5 Kg Poppy straw was recovered from two suspects namely Fareed Ali son of Jamat Ali of Ragoora and Mushtaq Ali son of Irshad Ali, resident of Gujjar Nagar (Jammu), who were on-board the vehicle.
In this regard, two different cases vide FIR Number 119/2022 U/S 8/18/29 NDPS Act and FIR Number 120/2022 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and the accused arrested.
It is pertinent to mention that accused namely Fareed Ahmed is a notorious criminal who is already involved in cases FIR Number 18/2013 U/S 336/323/14 IPC, FIR Number 92/2020 U/S 8/20/21/22/29 NDPS ACT and 353/332 IPC, FIR Number 40/2022 U/S 8/21/29 NDPS ACT & 307/353/332/336/147/148/149/224/225 IPC and FIR Number 108/2022 U/S 452/323/148/380 IPC.
