Four held with heroin-like-substance worth Rs 27 lakh, cash

JAMMU, Oct 27: Four people, including three siblings, were arrested with 265 grams of heroin-like-substance worth Rs 27 lakh and cash of Rs 4, 05, 700 from Nagrota area here today.
The accused have been booked in case FIR number 283/2024 under sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nagrota.
A police official said that Police Station Nagrota received information through reliable sources that five individuals, including four siblings, identified as Shabir Choudhary, Shakeel Ahmed, Farooq Choudhary, and Arif Choudhary, all sons of Shah Mansha and residents of Sitni Bye Pass Nagrota, along with one Waseem Akram son of Ghulam Mohammad of Dharamkund, district Ramban, were selling heroin-like-substance among the smugglers/youth near TCP Bye Pass in their Scorpio vehicle (JK02DK-9844).
Followed by this, he said, a party of Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Nagrota under the close supervision of senior formation rushed to the spot and apprehended four accused persons as one among them, Arif Choudhary, fled away from the spot after seeing the police party.
The police official said that during the search of the four accused, 265 grams of heroin-like-substance worth Rs 27 lakh and an additional cash of Rs 4, 05, 700 was recovered from the dashboard of their vehicle.
Accordingly, the accused were booked under the relevant sections of the law and arrested, he said, adding that further investigation is underway.
A manhunt has also been launched to arrest the absconding youth, said the police official.
