Four injured as boiler in beverage factory explodes

SAMBA, Jan 29: Four workers sustained serious injuries after a boiler in a newly constructed beverages company exploded here today.

Varun Sharma (32) son of Ramesh Chander of Chadwal, Kathua; Abhay Thapa (24) son of Keshav Thapa of Ward number 8, Samba; Arun Kumar (28) son of Tilak Raj of Janipur, Jammu; and Babu Ram (38) son of Jyoti Ram of Jadwan Sarthal, District Kishtwar, were injured when a boiler in their unit, NJ Food Products, located in the first phase of Industrial area of Samba exploded this evening.
The injured were immediately rushed to District Hospital Samba for first aid from where they have been referred to Government Medical College Jammu for advanced treatment.
Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Samba, Dr Mohinder Kumar said that two patients have suffered burns in their mouth, one in the arms, and the other had a fracture.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police have registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the law and started further investigation into the matter.
