Four Juveniles Among 8 Detained For Glorifying Terrorism Through Social Media Platforms

Srinagar, Mar 24: Jammu and Kashmir police have detained eight people for allegedly glorifying terrorism through social media platforms.
The Cyber Police Srinagar identified eight individuals operating adverse social media handles for posting content that promoted terrorism and extremist ideologies, police said.
“During cyber surveillance and patrolling, 8 individuals operating adverse social media handles were identified for posting content that promoted terrorism and extremist ideologies. Following the investigations, all eight were detained for questioning,” a police statement said.
Out of the eight detained, four individuals were identified as Sajad Ahmad Lone of Herpora Parigam, Kulgam; Zuhaib Zahoor of Brein Nishat, Srinagar; Abrar Mushtaq of Nawabazar, Srinagar; and Farhad Rasool of Check Dara, Harwan, Srinagar.
“Moreover, 4 juveniles involved in similar activities were counselled and handed over to their parents after proper counselling. They will remain under close surveillance,” police said.
They said the Cyber Police Srinagar is actively monitoring social media platforms to identify individuals engaged in spreading extremist content, inciting violence, or attempting to disrupt public order.
“Any attempt to glorify terrorism, promote secessionist ideologies, or spread misinformation against national integrity will be dealt with strictly under the law. Cyber Police Srinagar urges social media users to act responsibly and refrain from activities that violate legal and ethical norms,” police said.
“ Stringent legal action, including prosecution under relevant laws, will be taken against those found misusing digital platforms for unlawful purposes.”
