Four killed in road accidents

JAMMU, July 1: Four persons were killed in three separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, two persons got serious injurious this afternoon when an oil tanker bearing registration number JK01J-0712 hit them, while they were standing near a load carrier (bearing registration number JK02BL-8879) standing on Batra-Sidhra road.
He said the injured persons were immediately shifted to nearby ASCOMS Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The bodies of both the deceased persons, who were identified as Imtiaz (30) son of Rehan Ali, resident of Khanpur (Nagrota) and Mohd Shafi (30) son of Yasin, resident of Karmichi (Mansar), were later shifted Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where after conducting post mortem, their bodies were handed over to their legal heirs fro last rites.
In this connection, Bagh-e-Bahu police had registered a case and seized both the vehicles involved in the mishap and launched a manhunt for the driver and conductor of the oil Tanker, who managed to flee from the spot of crime.
A youth identified as Arun Kumar son of Suraj Parkash, resident of Kothian (Pouni), received serious injuries late last night when an unregistered bike on which he was travelling, was hit by a speeding Tata Mobile at Deharen in Kanachak area. The grievously injured youth was rushed to GMCH Jammu, but there he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
Today after conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. Kanachak police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
Another mishap occurred late last night at Domana, where a rashly driven unknown vehicle hit a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AJ-9342 at Domana near Army gate. In the mishap, bike rider, Lucky (35) son of Bishambar Dass, resident of Sungal Morh (Akhnoor), sustained serious injuries.
The flying squad of Domana police immediately rushed the injured youth to GMCH, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was today handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. A case in this connection was registered at police station Domana and investigations taken up.
