SRINAGAR, Dec 31: Four persons who were trapped in snow in the dense forests of Keller-Kotar Behak area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district from last three days were rescued today by Police.
Police said that Tariq Ahmad, son of Mohd Afzal Magray, Hilal Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar, Parvaiz Ahmad, son of Mohammad Rasool and Mohammadd Latief, son of Mohammad Aleem were on their way back to home from District Budgam via a short cut road between Shopian and Budgam on December 28.
“After reaching near the Kotar Behak area they could not move forward because of heavy snowfall in the area and the four persons along with their horses trapped in the forest. A police party led by Station House Officer (SHO) Keller, Shabir Ahmad reached the spot this morning rescued the trapped persons and later brought them to the Keller Police Station,” said police.
SP Shopian, Mumtaz Ahmad along with some other members of the district administration also reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation.
