Four smugglers held, 43 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, May 12: Police here today arrested four bovine smugglers, seized four vehicles involved in the crime and rescued 43 bovines during different operations conducted on the directions of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar.
Cops from Police Station Ramsu intercepted a vehicle and during its checking found 27 bovines loaded in cruel manner and were being transported illegally and one person was arrested in this case.
In another instance, cops from Police Station Banihal intercepted three vehicles and during their checking found 16 bovines loaded in cruel manner and were being transported illegally and three persons were arrested in this regard.
Cases in FIR with number 61 of 2024 was registered at Police Station Ramsoo and in FIR with numbers 70/71/and 72 of 2024 were registered at Police Station Banihal under Sections 188 IPC and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
A handout of Ramban Police stated that four vehicles involved in the crime were also seized.
