Four smugglers held, 77 bovines rescued

RAMBAN, Apr 17: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar arrested four smugglers, rescued 77 bovines and seized four vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Chanderkote while performing vehicle checking duty intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03L-8185 and during its checking found 25 bovines loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
One Feroz Ahmed Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Baranti, Bhatpora, Anantnag was arrested in this case from the spot.
Meanwhile, cops from Police Station Ramban intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02DD-795 and during its checking found 14 bovines loaded in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
One Shabir Ahmed, son of Mohd Qasim, resident of Tatrsoo, Banihal was arrested on the spot in this regard.
Also cops from Police Post Jawahar Tunnel intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK21J-3231 and JK14E-4573 and during checking of these vehicles cops found 38 bovines loaded in cruel manner and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir.
In this case two persons Mohd Tariq, son of Ayoub Khan, resident of Jakhani, Udhampur and Showket Ali, son of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Haneja, Doda were arrested on the spot.
Subsequently, FIR No. 50/2024 was registered at Police Station Chanderkote, FIR No. 83/2024 at Police Station Ramban while FIR No. 54/2024 and 55/2024 were registered at Police Station Banihal under Sections 188 IPC and under the Prevention of cruelty to Animals Act. Four vehicles involved in the crime were also seized and investigation has been initiated into these cases.
