‘FPF can use fire arms against unruly Forest Mafia’

BHADERWAH, Dec 7: In a significant development to tighten the noose of forest mafia, sleuths of Forest Protection Force (FPF) have been authorized to use fire arms to effectively counter the illegal activities of forest offenders in Doda district.
DFO Bhaderwah, Chander Shekhar who also holds the charge of Deputy Director FPF Doda said: “This is a landmark decision made by the UT administration as during the last one year more than a dozen forest employees got seriously injured in attacks by the mafia during raids.”
“Today was our first day in the field with weapons that too in Tanta area of Bhaleesa range which is otherwise notorious for attacks on our employees,” he said adding: “This decision will go a long way in effectively countering the activities of notorious forest mafia and simultaneously to save the green gold effectively.”
