Talking to reporters here, today R K Bhat president YAIKS questioned the Government why it did not take up the resolution on the rehabilitation of rootless community in the Assembly over the last 36 years of their displacement. He asked don’t they deserved to be treated under much talked about formula of Insaniyat, Jamhooriyat and Kashmiriyat?
He on behalf of Kashmiri Pandits appealed the Omar Government to pass a resolution in the Assembly for the rehabilitation of Pandits in Kashmir before J&K’s Statehood is restored. He said that Pandits were refugees when J&K was full-fledged State, they were refugees after J&K was converted to UT and now before the restoration of the Statehood to J&K the displaced Pandits should be rehabilitated in Kashmir with honour and dignity.
Bhat asked both Narendra Modi led Union Government and Omar Abdullah UT Government to clear their stand on return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley. He said how long the hapless community has to remain in exile and it is a question mark on the Union as well as UT Government?.
He said it is high time for Modi led Government to come to the rescue of homeless and rootless KP community who have also lost their identity and rehabilitate them in the land of their ancestors whose contribution to Indian culture, aesthetics and ethos are tremendous. “No lip sympathy can solve our problem and the community needs a direct action from Government on this vital issue”, he added.
Bhat said the GoI should frame a comprehensive return and rehabilitation plan for exiled Pandits as 36 years of exile is not a less time as three generations of community passed hoping against the hope that the day will come when there will be light at the end of the tunnel. But till date community met noting except disappointment, he added.
Bhat while complimenting GoI for reserving two Assembly seats for KPs also strongly advocated for political empowerment of KPs and said that the election within community be held for the nomination of two seats to Assembly.
R K Bhat was addressing the press conference along with representatives of his organisation from all 47 Assembly segments of the Valley.
Prominent among those included Sanjay Ganjoo, Sanjay Raina, D N Sadhu, Nresh Raina, Kamal Tak and Suresh Bhat.
