JAMMU, July 4: J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC-R) has demanded framing of a comprehensive wage and regularisation policy for over one lakh Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) engaged in various departments by the Government in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a meeting of the EJAC held here today under the chairmanship of senior Trade Union leader, Babu Hussain, the members expressed serious concern over the plight of the thousands of daily rated workers specially deployed in PHE, Irrigation &Flood Control, PDD, Forest, R&B, Health and various other Government departments.
They pointed out that despite submitting many representations to the higher authorities, staging protests and dharnas by workers, the Government has remained unmoved towards the pending issues of the daily wagers and consolidated workers. Many of them have not been paid their wages and their families have been left to suffer. They said previous Coalition Govt had framed a regularisation policy under SRO 520 which has been rejected by the EJAC.
They also demanded removal of pay anomalies/ amendment in SRO-333 of clerical cadre, revoke SRO- 24 , release pending DA instalments of employees and pensioners, implement Minimum Wages Act on Central pattern in J&K UT, increase Medical allowance of employees and pensioners and so on.
