PARIS, July 27 : The operation of high-speed trains (TGVs) in France, recently disrupted by sabotage, is expected to fully return to normal on Monday, French Minister Delegate for Transport Patrice Vergriete said on Saturday. “A complete return to normal [service] is expected on Monday. In theory, train services will return to normal on Monday morning,” Vergriete told French broadcaster BFMTV.
On Friday, French national railroad company SNCF said that suspected arsonists had launched a major attack on rail infrastructure ahead of the Olympics opening ceremony in an attempt to paralyse the TGV rail network. A large number of trains were diverted or canceled. Later on the same day, the company told RIA Novosti that rail service had been restored in France, with the trains running up to two hours late.
France is hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics from July 26 to August 11, with most of the events taking place in Paris and its suburbs. (UNI)
