Srinagar, Jan 3: Police today arrested a fraudster who had taken Rs 60,000 to get an accused person released from the police detention.
A fraudster who was identified as Mohammad Shafi Shah alias Shaffa Master, son of Abdul Shah resident of Tral-i-Payeen had deceitfully grabbed Rs 60, 000 from the family of an accused person namely Mohammad Yousuf Wani, son of Mohammad Sultan Wani of Khasipora Tral who is under police custody for his involvement in case FIR No. 111/2018 registered at Police Station Tral, police spokesman said.
Police said that Mohammad Shafi had promised the family of the accused person that he will get him released besides will also get the case cancelled against him.
The moment police learnt about this, it took the swift action and arrested the fraudster and recovered Rs 50, 000 from his possession, he said, adding that in this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated to probe his complicity in similar other offences.
