Fraudster arrested

JAMMU, May 22: Crime Branch Jammu has arrested a fraudster for duping crores of rupees through fraudulent means from the inhabitants of Mendhar in Poonch district and its surrounding areas on the pretext of providing different products with huge interest.
The arrested fraudster, identified as Tariq Mehmood , son of Mohd Aziz of village Chhugan, Tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch, who is a pharmacist and presently posted at Health Sub Centre Bathoi, Mahore, District Reasi.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged at Police Station Mendhar on May 16, 2019, by one Abdul Karim of Mendhar and others alleging there in that accused Tariq Mehmood along with Murtaza Ahmed of Chak Banok, Mendhar, Imtiaz Ahmed of village Chhugan, Mendhar and others duped crores of rupees from the inhabitants of Mendhar and its surrounding areas on the pretext of providing different products with huge interest.
On receipt of the said complaint, a case FIR Number 70/2019, under Section 420/RPC was registered at P/S Mendhar. The investigation of the case was transferred to Crime Branch, Jammu by PHQ J&K Srinagar. The investigation of the case was taken up by the Crime Branch on May 22, 2019 and accordingly a SIT, headed by Bushan Kumar Ganjoo, Dy Superintendent of Police Crime Branch, Jammu, was constituted, which swung into action and arrested main accused Tariq Mehmood.
The accused is being interrogated to ascertain the modus operandi of crime and other aspects related to the case. The investigation of the case is in progress.
