RAJOURI, July 6: The police has arrested a fraudster turned so called `Peer Baba’ for molestation of women and cheating innocent people.
On the complaint of two villagers from border area of Doongi-Garati in district Rajouri the police today arrested the Tantrik Peer Baba. He has been identified as Mohd Akbar(65), son of Nawab Ali, resident of Chhatral village in Mendhar (Poonch).
Reports said the people caught `Dongi Peer Baba’ red handed near Line of Control in Doongi area of Rajouri, while molesting a woman. The locals told that this Peer Baba had been coming to the homes of people in various villages for the past some time and was making huge money on the pretexts of `Tantrik treatment’ of people and extracting huge money.
On Sunday, he had gone to a home for the treatment of an ailing young woman. He took her in a room and asked to take off her clothes. He told the family that some body had done ` black magic’ on the woman and he will set her alright. When the Tantrik started physical advances and sexually assaulting her, she started crying. The family members then caught the Tantrik and thrashed him severely. They were joined by the neighbours and severely beaten up the Peer Baba. Later, he was handed over to police.
SSP Rajouri said that fraudster has been arrested and an FIR lodged against him. Rajouri police registered a case FIR No. 340/2020 u/s 354/420 RPC against Mohd Akbar Baba and further investigation was in progress. Another FIR was lodged against him by another villager of the area on similar charges.
