LEH, July 23: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur, virtually attended the event for the launch of the free UPSC Civil Services examinations coaching programme for 30 deserving students from Leh district and the conclusion of the free SSC coaching programme, at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra.
Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson; Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Executive Councillors, LAHDC Leh- Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Ghulam Mehdi and Stanzin Chosphel; Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof R K Mehta; Deputy Commissioner Leh, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse and Madhu Prabhakar and GR Patel from Samkalp were present during the event.
Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, launched Reway Otzer- the free UPSC Civil Services examinations coaching programme, during the event.
LG Mathur appreciated Hill Council Leh for providing free coaching to UPSC Civil Services examinations aspirants. He also appreciated Hill Council Leh for successfully handling the administrative and logistics matters for the free SSC coaching programme and also for engaging a non-commercial and professional organisation like Sankalp for providing coaching to youth from Leh.
Stating that Ladakh youth are talented and dedicated, LG appreciated the youth for their attitude to come back to Ladakh and work for society. Calling youth the future of Ladakh, LG Mathur stated that more than 800 youth would soon become a part of the administration and play a pivotal role in the development of the society. He stressed the need to develop the skill of distinguishing right from wrong among the youth.
LG Mathur stated that the administration and both the Hill Councils have managed to meet the aspirations of the people of Ladakh by providing employment opportunities to around 1600-1700 youth of Ladakh through the SSC examinations for various posts and the recruitment in Ladakh Police over the last three years.
LG Mathur shared the initiatives being taken to improve infrastructure to conduct online exams, including SSC, UPSC and banking, in Leh and Kargil and the approval given for the Examination Centre project for both Leh and Kargil.
Students who availed benefits of the free SSC coaching programme shared their experiences.
Earlier, Deputy Director, Employment Department, Delex Namgyal delivered welcome address while vote of thanks was presented by Chief Education Officer, Leh, Sonam Dorjay Namgial.
