Freebies won’t work

Sir,
There is no doubt about it that the present day politicians realise the facts and come to the senses only when they are voted out of  power by the electorate. The people of the State gave a big jolt to National Conference and Congress in the recently held Parliamentary elections. Corruption, defective employment  policy,  misuse of Govt funds and Govt machinery have forced the electorate of the State to teach the coalition partners a lesson for taking its voters  for granted.
As is known to all that the Congress Ministers from Jammu region have so far been tight lipped against the discrimination with Jammu region. They never dared to raise the issue of discrimination for the reasons best known to them. Now, after the crushing defeat they have started talking about discrimination with Jammu region, perhaps keeping in view the coming Assembly elections.
Shall shocked  National Conference in desperately trying to do everything possible right or wrong to gain its lost ground. Now some decisions taken in haste such as, increasing the retirement age from 58 to 60, Qualifying age from 37 to 40, regularisation of all the daily wagers etc and announcement of some freebies would serve no purpose for the sinking ship.
The best possible example we can cite in this connection is Mrs Sonia Gandhi’s dream project of Food Security Bill passed by Parliament just before the elections. This proved to be counter productive for the Congress Party.
People are now wise enough to understand the desperation of the political parties and other related developments just to woo the angry voters for the coming State elections.
Yours etc….
