Freight rates decline on excess position of trucks

NEW DELHI, June 24: Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section dropped by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital today following easy availability of trucks in the market against restricted cargo movements.
Transporters said besides restricted cargo movements, heavy position of trucks largely pulled down freight rates.
Delhi to Kanpur, Chandigarh, Gwalior and Mumbai freight rates moved down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 19,000, Rs 16,000, Rs 14,000 and Rs 29,000, respectively.
Rates to Ahmedabad, Indore, Baroda, Surat and Kolkata also went down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 22,000, Rs 21,000, Rs 24,000, Rs 26,000 and Rs 31,000, respectively.
