Freight rates decline on tight movements of cargo

NEW DELHI, Apr 14: Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section were enquired lower by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital today on insufficient movements of cargo amid excess position of trucks.
Transporters said, apart from heavy availability of trucks, small movements of cargo mainly pulled down freight rates of some centres.
Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Mysore freight rates went down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 79,000, Rs 62,000 and Rs 65,000, respectively.
Rates to Vijayawada, Guwahati, Kolkata and Mumbai also moved down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 58,000, Rs 60,000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 28,000, respectively.
