Freight rates fall on excess position of trucks

NEW DELHI, Aug 9:  Freight rates for 10-tonne pay load section declined by Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport market today largely due to easy availability of trucks against restricted cargo movements.
Transporters said huge position of trucks in the markets in the face of tight cargo movements, mainly weighed on freight rates for select destinations.
Freights rates from Delhi to Goa, Patna and Guwahati were down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 55,000, Rs 27,000 and Rs 53,000.
Kanpur, Kolkatta, Pondicherry and Vijaywada also moved down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 22,000, Rs 32,000,Rs 68,000 and Rs 60,000.
