Freight rates fall on tight cargo movements

NEW DELHI, May 27: Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section declined by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market today following slowdown in cargo movements against easy position of trucks.
Transporters said the fall in freight rate for select destinations was due to restricted cargo movements against excess position of trucks.
Delhi to Vijayawada, Chennai and Bengaluru freight rates were down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 60,000, Rs 65,000 and Rs 63,000, respectively.
Rates to Puducherry, Kochi and Guwahati also dropped by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 69,000, Rs 78,000 and Rs 60,000, respectively.
Elsewhere, rest all other centres freight rates hovered around overnight levels on some support.
