Srinagar, Dec 12: The residents of Shalimar Colony in Kanispora area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir today said that frequent snags in 250 Kilo Watt (KW) electric transformer has left them in darkness from last four days.
The residents said they are without electricity for last four days due to snag in transformer. “The 250KW transformer is for 210 households and due to overloading it often develops snag which results in darkness,” said Javaid Ahmad, a local resident.
He said despite repeated pleas to the concerned officials they are not installing another transformer in the area to ease the load on existing one. “We appeal the officials to restore electricity in our area by repairing the existing transformer and also install another,” the resident said.
The SE North Kashmir of Power Development Department (PDD) Daljit Singh told Excelsior that the transformer would be repaired by Monday. “We have already taken that for repair… Hopefully we will restore the electricity by Monday,” he said. The senior officer urged the people make judicious use of the power in winters. “If people will use power judiciously then we guarantee you that there would be no overloading and disruption,” he said.
